Tonight’s gin experiment. Bluecoat American Dry gin, with pink grapefruit.
First reaction was a Jar-jar Binks style “Wooooo!”, for it is nice stuff. The citrus of the grapefruit really compliments it. Middle-class meal accompaniment; chicken & rice. Simple. But tasty.
I give this stuff 8/10. Would drink again.
Tonight’s gin experiment – Joanne Moore’s “Bloom”, made with pac-man.
The verdict is… That it is probably probably better to have pac-man with a coarser, greasier gin. Actually, might go pretty well with that Whitley Neill stuff that I didn’t enjoy all that much the other week.
For the Bloom, I might actually follow my friend Jon’s suggestion of borage flower, or maybe a sprig of lavendar.
Food going with it – probably boiled egg and soldiers, with a little bit of parma ham on the side.

While it may be a huge disappointment to my friend Jon, tonight’s gin experiment is brought to you by the German distilled Elephant Gin, with kumquats. As far as I am aware, Jon has no problem with Elephant Gin, or the Germans. I do know however that he is disdainful of kumquats, and can frequently be heard slagging them off to his friends. The middle-class repast to go with this is yet to be decided. But there are some potatoes roasting, shortly to be joined with fennel and asparagus.
Next week – Barnsley chops with an apricot reduction, accompanied by baked shallots, green beans and carrot. Would have been tonight, but the butcher apparently has to order Barnsley chops in special.

Tonight’s gin experiment. Brooklyn small batch gin, served with a few slices of plum. It’s actually alright. Fairly crisp. Would definitely drink again.
Middle classness rating: It’s American. So it’s being accompanied by Crispy Chicken Dippers. Naturally.

Tonight’s gin experiment. Whitley Neill with papaya.
It’s passable – though I’d say it could do with a more aggressive cut to take off a slight roughness.
It will be accompanied by post-pub snacks of asparagus and pine nuts roasted with a drizzle of balsamic vinegar. Because yes, I am that poncey and middle-class.
